Kilpatrick Adds Prominent Litigator to Trademark, Copyright & Advertising Team in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (October 2) – Kilpatrick announced today the addition of Sharon Smith, Counsel, to its expanding, internationally recognized Trademark, Copyright & Advertising Team. Ms. Smith will work from Kilpatrick’s San Francisco office. Until recently, she practiced at Goodwin.

Ms. Smith, with first-chair experience from dozens of trials, brings to Kilpatrick her 20-plus years of representing clients in high-stakes trademark, copyright, trade secret, and right to publicity matters. The prestigious World Trademark Review and Legal 500 annually rank her among the leading attorneys for Trademark Enforcement and Litigation, Copyright Enforcement and Litigation, and Trade Secrets. Ms. Smith has earned the reputation among peers and clients as “one of the 'top IP pathfinders on the West Coast' who makes 'decisive plays in IP and commercial cases.'”

Ms. Smith has advised clients - cutting across diverse industries - regarding their advertising and promotional programs including comparative advertising, contests, and sweepstakes. She offers strategic IP counsel including global prosecution, brand strategies, transactions, enforcement programs, Trademark Trial and Appeal Board cases, and domain name proceedings. As part of her overall practice, Ms. Smith has significant expertise in the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, AI and copyright matters, and scraping.
